Analysis of the meteorological characteristics that are related to the air pollution problem and enhancement of the air quality forecasting system.

Absrtact
The objective of this project includes: (1) investigate the meteorological characteristics that are related to the air pollution problem; (2) enhance the forecasting capability of the air quality modeling system; (3) strengthen the forecasting capability of the air quality forecasters and support the daily air quality forecasts (AQF). The major improvement of the AQF system is the upgrade of the emission data. There are two major tasks: (1) develop the CMAQ-PAMS simulation technique and improve the VOC emission inventory; (2) evaluate the atmospheric planetary boundary layer (PBL) structure using the unmanned aerial vehicle observation data. The CMAQ-PAMS is able to improve the VOC simulation technique. Moreover, the analysis of the atmospheric PBL structure provides a conceptual transport mechanism of the air pollutants, particularly under the influence of the leeside vortex.
