2020 Environmental Policy Intentions Survey

This environmental policy intentions survey was conducted to understand the perception of citizens who are over 20 years old toward environmental quality domestically. It adopted stratified proportional sampling method basing on the residential telephone and mobile phones interview. There are two surveys, and the first survey was conducted from September 30 to October 6, 2020 with 2,237 valid samples. The second survey was conducted from November 17 to November 23, 2020 with 2,237 valid samples. Under 95% confidence level, maximum sampling errors of both surveys are less than 2.07 percentage points. The followings are the results of the first survey: 1. 77.4% people show their satisfaction toward the quality of drinking water around their living area, 56.9% people satisfy the quality of rivers, 88.6% people satisfy the status of garbage disposal, 87.8% people satisfy the status of recycling, 82.6% people satisfy environment cleanliness,73.2% people satisfy quietness(noise) of living life, and 65.5% people satisfy public toilet cleanliness. 2. 52.7% people show their satisfaction toward air quality around their living area. 36.6% people think air quality has been improved, 44.1% people think air quality are the same, and 16.0% think it is worsen. The top 3 sources which result in air pollution mostly are diesel cars (25.3%), factories (23.1%) and black smoke of construction machinery (12.6%) in order. 3. 41.9% people know about the policy of “green life of all people” from EPA, and amount which 75% feel satisfied. 4. 51.9% people show their satisfaction toward “information disclosure” from the website, APP and social media of EPA. 5. 66.3% people show their satisfaction toward the current promotion of environmental protection from EPA, and the rate of dissatisfaction increase with the level of education. In addition, 57.6% people believe that it is better than the past year. The followings are the results of the second survey: 1. 69.1% people show their satisfaction toward the status of recycling of disposable dishes in buffet shop and bento shop, while 21.5% people show dissatisfaction. 2. 96.9% people are willing to clean, recycle and stack disposable dishes in buffet shop and bento shop, and the percentage is higher than that of unwillingness which is 2.7%. 3. For the promotion of environmental night market from EPA, the most valued items are "night market cleanliness" and "implementation of garbage classification" with higher rates, which are 29.4% and 29.0%. The rest items are in order “catering lampblack emission control” (11.8%), “maintenance of toilet clean” (9.5%), “avoid using disposable dishes” (9.3%) and “catering wastewater treatment” (8.3%). 4. People think night markets need to improve most are "night market cleanliness" and "implementation of garbage classification" with higher rates, which are 27.2% and 23.7%. The rest items are in order “catering lampblack emission control” (17.0%), “catering wastewater treatment” (10.9%), “avoid using disposable dishes” (10.2%) and “maintenance of toilet clean” (9.6%). 5. 90.6% people do not know the activity of “online shopping packages recycling” from EPA, while only 9.4% people know. 6. 88.0% people support that online shopping packages can be reusable, while 10.9% people do not support. 7. Only 5.7% people know about the “water refill map” APP, while 94.3% people do not know. 8. 44.2% people are willing to download “water refill map” APP to fine water refill stops and fill water to drink, and the percentage is lower than that of unwillingness which is 52.7%. 9. 90.3% people agree centralized burning of paper money or environmental worship, while 8.9% people disagree. 10. The reasons why people disagree centralized burning of paper money or environmental worship are “unable to take traditional beliefs in to consideration” with the highest rate, which is 68.8%. 11. 60.1% people know about the policy of “the fuel gun automatically stop without forcing fuel” from EPA, and the percentage is higher than that of people who do not know which is 39.9%. 12. 80.0% people know about the subsidy of “motor vehicle replacement” from EPA, and the percentage is higher than that of people who do not know which is 20.0%. 13. people gain the information sources of motor vehicle replacement subsidy are from “TV” with the highest rate which is 31.3%, and the rest are “internet”(22.3%), “Stores”(22.1%) and “relatives and friends”(18.8%). 14. 89.0% people agree to use “sound camera” scientific equipment to prohibit high noisy vehicles, while 9.8% people disagree.
