Improvement of Air Quality Forecasting Skill

Absrtact
The objective of this project includes: (1) investigate the meteorological characteristics that are related to the air pollution problem; (2) enhance the forecasting capability of the air quality modeling system; (3) develop the CMAQ-PAMS system to improve VOCs emission inventory and O3 forecasting capability; (4) strengthen the forecasting capability of the air quality forecasters and support the daily air quality forecasts (AQF). The major tasks conducted include: (1) improve the vertical distributions of the traffic emissions of the lifted road; (2) upgrade the air quality forecasting system anthropogenic emissions from TEDS10 to TEDS11 emission inventory; (3) develop the CMAQ-PAMS simulation technique and improve the VOC emission inventory; (4) evaluate the atmospheric planetary boundary layer (PBL) structure using the unmanned aerial vehicle observation data; (5) develop the weather classification based bias correction method to enhance the air quality forecasting capability.
