Chiayi City promoted the indoor air quality maintenance and management program(2021) This project carries out from January 20 to December 15, 2021, and the outcome of it is demonstrated as follows: (1)Guidance meeting: During the annual project was conducted, have been held information sessions about indoor air quality (IAQ). The topics of advocacy are " Promotion for IAQ maintenance and management in Chiayi city, 2021," "The important issues and amendment of indoor air quality inspection and measures" and "Places announced to be regulated in the near future," etc. The meeting mainly demonstrated the key points of the EPA's policies. The meeting aims to explicate its policy. All the representatives show that they are quite comprehensive and satisfied with the meeting. (2)Investigation of indoor air quality of 100 sites (200 times): The IAQ in 200 locations have been inspected. With portable automatic detection monitors, abnormal IAQ have been detected in 39 locations. The majority of abnormal locations were kindergartens, social welfare agency, and hospitals. Most of the abnormal IAQ items in all locations are PM2.5 and PM10, which are related to poor outdoor air quality. In addition, CO2 were abnormal in some places, mainly due to insufficient indoor ventilation. (3)Aiding 100 sites to set up maintenance and management regulations: This project has aided 100 locations to set up and fill up maintenance and management plans with examinations. At the same time, this project also offers strategies and solutions while the indoor air quality is necessary to be improved. At first, we illustrate related laws and duties that they should follow and fulfill, and we remind them of the daily maintenance regulations. (4)Holding inter-bureau coordination meetings: The inter-bureau coordination meeting was held to keep track of the issues brought up at 2021 yearly meeting. The meeting mainly explicated the situations of the IAQ policies of EPA’s new announcement site and the self-management label. Relevant departments are requested to assist in updating the list of possible announcement sites and assist in publicity. Moreover, considering the possible yearly business adjustments, we update the information of contact windows. We also investigate the schedules of various bureaus in order to evaluate and examine the sites. By doing so, we make various bureaus unite together to promote indoor air quality at various sorts of public locations in Chiayi. (5)Examining the standards of indoor air quality at 10 locations: This project has commissioned the organizations certificated by EPA to examine the IAQ at 7 announced sites and 3 sites with non-announcement place. The results show that the 10 sites all meet the IAQ standard. (6) Continuously inspecting CO2 at 2 locations: The project conducted continuous monitoring of CO2 in a medical institution (Yangming Hospital) and a library (Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Chiayi City Government) in order to help the two types of places to understand the indoor CO2 concentration and the effectiveness of ventilation improvement. In addition, recommendations for indoor ventilation management are also provided. The results showed that the concentration of CO2 in the hospital was slightly high during certain periods, but all meet the IAQ standard. After installing Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) system in the children's reading area of the library, the IAQ has been improved. (7)On-site aiding 6 locations to maintain and manage indoor air quality: Two experts and scholars were invited to conduct on-site counselling for 6 locations. The 6 locations selected are due to abnormal IAQ and volunteer participants for the sake of obtaining IAQ self-management labels. Common IAQ problems observed from on-site counseling are insufficient ventilation, fan is not regularly cleaned up, and dust accumulated on the outlet of fan. For places that voluntarily obtain IAQ self-management labels, suggestions to improve the effectiveness of IAQ management were provided in order to meet the qualifications for application. (8)Investigation of indoor air quality at 30 non-publication sites: The IAQ of 35 sites have been inspected, including homes, shops and offices, including 4 newly decorated homes recommended by interior decoration associations. We have provided related suggestions for them to maintain indoor air quality. The questionnaire’s results indicated that the participants are all satisfied with the inspection activity.
