Air Quality Improvement Strategies Implementation in Air Basins and Research for Comprehensive Control of Ozone Precursors

Absrtact
This project provides weekly and monthly air quality statistical reports, regularly tracks the air quality and meteorological data of various air basins, counties, and cities, as well as the goals achievement of “Air Pollution Prevention Plan”, records and analyzes accidents affecting air quality every month. The air quality data of cities in East Asia and South Asia as well as the international important air quality indicators are all collected to compare with the air quality in Taiwan. This project also analyzes the specific cases of air quality incidents, including PM2.5 and ozone, both deterioration and improvement. When abnormal air pollution situation appears, the project also studies for why and where the pollution comes from. The effects of mobile source air pollution control strategies are estimated .We also draft the review reports of “Air Pollution Control in Taiwan (R.O.C.)” in 2020 and 2021. The plan also collects the regulations of WHO, the EU, the US and mainland China on ambient air quality standards modify. We propose the standards regular review system for Taiwan and proposes revisions, reviews the AQI system and analyzes existing problems. This project builds the Exceptional Events Rule and use it to review the cases proposed by the local governments. We also assist in updating the latest levels of air quality control zones in various counties and cities. In addition, the emissions data system is established for air product analysis and modeling, including CEMS, highway, and international commercial port ships. Otherwise, this project analyzes the causes of ozone exceeding the standard with time series characteristics and analyzes pollution with back trajectory to evaluate the impact of various sources on ozone through model simulation. It also estimated the reduction needs of ozone precursors, and finally completed the analysis of water-soluble ion components of the PM2.5 samples from 2021.
