In order to reduce the impact of black smoke emitted by diesel engine vehicle on Taichung’s air quality. Environmental Protection Bureau of Taichung City Government continued the project of " Inspections of Diesel Engine Vehicle Emission and Illegal Diesel Oil " to conduct the quality control of diesel engine vehicle emission, diesel oil and associated works. This year's implementation focused on the control of black smoke emissions and the detection of illegal oil products. The implementation projects included dynamometer exhaust inspection, roadside spot inspection exhaust inspection, the oil control, etc. It also cooperated with the Taichung Harbor’s control area, the autonomous management of diesel vehicles, the license plate recognition system, the eco-friendly convoy’s campaign, Diesel vehicle urea inspection and the NOX detection of diesel vehicles.
The testing results indicated that 116 of 5,202 vehicles (2.2%) failed under full-load smoke emission inspection in the smoke emission dynamometer station; The sampling tests of diesel oil were 20 of sulfur content.
Simultaneously,to encourage passengers and freight operators, clean vehicles and school buses in the jurisdiction to regularly maintain, maintain and inspect on site, promote self-management and warranty inspection and a system, and had issued11,002 diesel vehicle self-management passes. At the same time, through the eco-friendly convoy’s campaign, car owners were encouraged to eliminate old vehicles and used the phase of 4-5 vehicles. Enterprises are encouraged to join the environmental protection fleet. As of the end of November, a total of 112companies have joined. The total number of vehicles of these 112 companies is 5,720, of which 5,241 vehicles are above the fourth phase, accounting for as high as 92%. In terms of vehicle replacement, 112 environmental protection fleets A total of 203 vehicles were phased out. In terms of reductions, PM10 can be reduced by 6.59 metric tons, PM2.5 can be reduced by 5.64 metric tons, and NOx can be reduced by 83.2 metric tons.
