The goal of this program is to promote green chemistry through education, industrial promotion, and inter-ministerial cooperation. The promotion of green chemistry is based on the “National Policy Framework for Chemical Substance Management”, and in order to achieve the vision of “effective management of chemical substances and the construction of a healthy and sustainable environment”, the program has set up five major goals, including “national governance”, “risk reduction”, “management capacity”, “knowledge building”, and “cross-border management”. The project design consists of establishing green chemistry teaching aids for elementary schools, teaching materials for general education courses in tertiary institutions, and optimizing and updating the articles in the Green Chemistry Integration Zone to promote “knowledge building”, constructing green chemistry education materials for industries, environmental education personnel and specialists, and organizing workshops on source management and innovative applications of green chemistry in order to achieve “risk reduction” and “management capacity”.
The project team has completed the development of teaching materials for 16 general education courses and 4 advanced courses for tertiary institutions in the promotion of green chemistry teaching plans and materials. For the promotion of general education materials, 6 courses have been organized in 6 universities, and 4 trial lessons have been completed for the advanced materials.
In the elementary school teaching materials development and promotion section, 11 courses have been completed to promote green chemistry teaching materials for elementary schools. In the elementary school camp section, 1 physical camp and 1 online camp were completed in 112 and 113 respectively, while 2 teaching aids designs have been completed in the physical teaching aids production section, and 4 training courses have been completed in the elementary school teacher seed training.
In the section on the promotion and integration of green chemistry for multi-ethnic groups, the team has organized three workshops on source management and innovative application of green chemistry in Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Hsinchu City. In the section on teaching materials for the industry, the team has completed the development and compilation of four types of teaching materials, and one type of teaching materials for environmental educators, and has completed the writing of eight 800-word essays.
In other parts, the team has sent staff to assist the staff of the Agency to participate in the 9th EuChemS Chemistry Congress, and has completed the writing of three 2,000-word scientific articles, as well as the revision of the teaching materials for specialists, and has completed the short-, medium-, and long-term promotion planning of green chemistry in China, and has also consolidated the English language work of the special area.
