Investigating the source and transmission of Arsenic and havey metals in Taichung area and establishing the restrained strategies 2008

To this project, the date of contact was April, 30, 2008 and the performance period had continued for 14 months starting from April 30 to June 29, 2008. Within the performance period, an educational training had been hold and the proposal of Q.A/Q.C had been submitted to the committee for professional certification at May 23, 2008. After the proposal had been approved, total suspend particles (TSP), PM10, and PM2.5 were sampled and analyzed continuously for 24 hr once a month since July, 2008 and sampling had finished in June, 2009. The sampling site is Yong-An Elementary School which is located near by the Central Taiwan Science Park. With respect to the situation of sampling and analysis during the period of northeast and southwest monsoon, there was no acceptable weather for continuous sampling for 7 days because of the influence of typhoons as well as cloudburst during the period of southwest monsoon. Therefore, the first continuous sampling of this project for 7 days had been carried out since October, 24 to October, 30, 2008 during the period of northeast monsoon. The numbers of times for suspend solids synchronous sampling (TSP, PM10, and PM2.5), Rawinsonde monitoring, particles sampling (nano-, fine-, coarse-particles) was 98, 56, and 75 times, respectively. Besides those above samples, the topsoil was also sampled 3 times during the course of continuous sampling. The second continuous sampling had been carried out since April, 27 to May, 4, 2009 during the period of southwest monsoon. The sampling items and times were same with the first continuous sampling except sampling 4 times of topsoil. In addition, with respect to the pollution source of Arsenic (As), after 6 factories had been investigated, 13 funnels of 4 factories which is among the 6 investigated factories were followed to inspect the Arsenic pollution.
