The Kaohsiung City Government Environment Protection Bureau referenced the policy of Europe, Unite State and Japan to control the high emission diesel engine cars. In 2006, the Kaohsiung City Government Environment Protection Bureau selected 18 diesel engine cars (including buses and trash trucks) to install catalyst diesel particulate filters , On-Board diagnostics and control centers. In order to evaluate the result of air pollution emission reduce from the diesel engine cars which installed the catalyst diesel particulate filters from the public sections of Kaohsiung City.
Kaohsiung City wants to establish the low emission zone which includes Kaohsiung harbor and some industrial parks. This year, Environment Protection Bureau selected 8 diesel engine cars from the private sections to install catalyst diesel particulate filters. And Environment Protection Bureau will evaluate the result to promote the Kaohsiung City low emission zone.
