(1)Altogether ,1049 cases of outdoor burning were inspected. Of which ,28.2% categorized as large area burning ,with the bulk of material of burn as straw. This occurred between June to July and October to January in the following year. The remaining 71.8% categorized as small area burning, with material ranging from trashes and plant.(2)Before the first and second cropping harvest, there is a need to increase the public awareness regarding the prohibition of outdoor burning. Activities includes 10 public meetings at night and broadcasting of TV tickers & publicity types during TV program screening.(3)According to the burning data census collected from 2009 to 2010, the data per area decreased by 33.6% respectively.(4) There is also a significant decreased in individual cases of public burning reported over the years. Cases registered are 214,165 and 156 in year 2008,2009 and 2010 respectively.
2.(1) 20 public conventions were held to educate the masses on the importance to reduce burning of joss paper.(2) Operation covered the following items, they are burning of paper money during Hungry Ghost Festival and Spring Festival, general food service, industrial areas and public institutions. Preliminarily size paper material collected is 34.52 ton and the cumulative rate reached complete 115%.
3.Proposed and roll out system for waste branches processing. They are to smash and grind wasted branches to sawdust instead of burning in open area. 106 individual cases of waste branches smashing request were received and processed. Average weight per case of sawdust generated is 195.8kg. This indicated a significant increase in public awareness regarding the rule and regulation governing open area burning of waste material.
