This year’s General Environmental Knowledge Test Project aimed at creating an environmental learning space by utilizing the Internet that transcends time, space, and distance. More than 40 experts and scholars of environmental education were invited to serve on a committee that reviewed items of the knowledge test item bank according to 8 rigorous review principles. Based on statistical analysis conducted on a trial run attended by a thousand users including netizens and students of different age groups, the items deemed inappropriate were revised so as to develop a computerized item bank and a comprehensive website for people of varying ages to learn environmental knowledge.
To make learning of environmental knowledge fun and convenient, the e-School of the Environment website contains sections featuring up-to-date domestic and international environmental information, online environmental classroom, environmental games, practice tests, and the knowledge test. Model answers to each test question and detailed explanations are presented in addition to resources of further reading to enhance citizens’ environmental literacy.
