The purpose of this project was to examine the water quality of the pre-chosen 164 drinking water systems and 36 simple tap-water systems of the 25 municipal counties / cities. The items being tested include heavy metals (As, Pb, Se, Cr, Cd, Ba, Sb, Ni, Hg, Ag, In, Mo), volatile organics (trichoroethylene, carbon tetrachloride, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, 1,2-dichloroethane, vinyl chloride, benzene, 1,4-dichlorobenzene, 1,1-dichloroethene), pesticides (Endosulfan (I & II), Lindane, Butachlor, 2,4-D, paraquat, methomyl, carbofuran, MIPC, methamidophos, diazinon, parathion, EPN, monocrotophos), fluoride, and bromate, THMs (only tested at drinking water systems), with a total of 34 to 36 items.
The analytical results indicates that most of the analytes were detected in some drinking water systems except trichoroethylene, carbon tetrachloride, 1,2-dichloroethane, vinyl chloride, benzene, 1,4-dichloro-benzene, 1,1-dichloroethene and pesticides which were not found in all the systems. Most of the analytes were found in some simple tap water systems except Hg, trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, 1,2-dichloroethane, vinyl chloride, benzene, 1,4-dichlorobenzene and pesticides were not found in these systems. The results indicated that only one test of THMs at one site(TTW-U01) of Peng-Hu county which did not meet the regulation, the test results for the rest of the items all in compliance with the drinking water quality standards.
