The project was aimed to setup a public vehicle service station from August 25, 2010 till January 25, 2011 for Taichung County communters.
Among several considerations, Fengyuan railway station square was chosed as the demo site. In the normal working day (Monday to Friday, seven o'clock to seven p.m.), UCCT provided three electric bikes, five electric bicycles and 12 ordinary bicycles for local communters. People arrive at the service station needs only a simple registration form filled and shows his/her personal identification, then he/she can choose one of the available unit and enjoy the free riding.
According to the records, 227 different people use the commuting service, among all of those experiencers, 45% are male and 55% are female. Total mileage of the service provided is 5473.73KM, the estimated reduction of carbon emission is 235kg. The average riding distance is 6.2KM while the farest mileage is 79.36KM.
Upon the project period, the weather condition was not as comfortable as communters expected, even more, the service station was forced to shut-down for the sake of 2 typhoon events, we also confront several low temperature days which prevent routine users from using this free service.
