Environmental Protection Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government wants to encourage the drivers to pay more attentions to the affection of air pollutants when vehicles are idling-stopping by propagating that engines need to be turned off when idling-stop is over three minutes at followed places such as public or personal car parks, roadways ( except freeway, expressway) and another places where the vehicle parks, transfers and transports. The actions will avoid the air qualities decreases by air pollutants which emit by the idling-stopping vehicles in order to achieve the goal of reducing the pollutants emission.
The primary tasks are handle the activities of idling-stop policies guidance by motor vehicles and the relevant measures in this project. The major quantitative targets include printing 5,000 pieces of idling-stop propaganda, a large-scale activity of explaining “the idling-stop by motor vehicles”, 8 small-scale activities of idling-stop propaganda, making 200 banners, 1,000 posters, release the relevant news, and establish the exclusive web of idling-stop etc.. And the inspection of idling vehicles focused on the behavior of the drivers whoever on-street or off-street parking over 3 minutes by using Forward Looking Infrared Radiometer(FLIR), accept the petitions of citizen, and advise 3,000 driver whose vehicle was idling.
