In order to decrease the food and beverage (F&B) industry complaining cases and offer citizen a better life quality. The Department of Environmental Protection, Taipei City Government (TDPE) has promoted this project since 1999.
For sustained advocacy about pollution prevention and understand the latest information, equipments maintenance, regulated points to industry, we strongly invited industry which are new or often-be-complained to participate “F&B industry improvement counseling guidance meeting”. There are 3 sessions totally. Hope the meeting can offer information to help industry improves the situation. Besides, on the part of maintaining and producing pollution prevention movies, handbooks, already updated the latest regulations and prevention ways. In the meantime, the project also set up counseling lines for F&B industry, and there are 78 entrepreneurs to get through with it.
This year, we conducted 1 session of “Excellent restaurants observing campaign” specially. Through lecturer to explain the pollution prevention facilities and notices on the spot, can make entrepreneurs to share their experiences on facility maintenance and push themselves to do some improvements. On the other hand, held 1 session of “Pollution preventive facilities observing campaign of F&B industry”, invited manufacturer displaying preventive facilities as references for inspectors.
We finished 100 restaurant inventory cases for constructing F&B industry database, the result shows that there are mainly Chinese small restaurants in Taipei city, and the way they exhausted gas, 96% of them just let it went to the air, 4% of them lead the waste gas to the ditches. Besides, 58% of them already had preventive equipment, and 34.5% among them had installed front and end control equipment. The reasons why some restaurants unwilling to install the pollution control facilities were: (1) To be short of pollution control information and (2) only regulations for air pollution situation of F&B industry, and no completed standard for installing the prevention equipments, so that the willing to install the machine is not high.
For R&D and introduce suitable facilities for F&B industry business in Taipei, the opinions and technology experience are required urgently. Therefore, TDPE held another “Improving F&B Industry Business Pollution Control Technology Conference” for discussing relative issues about cooking fume, unpleasant odor control technology, and encouraging suitable facilities for every kind of F&B industries in Taipei city.
There were 40 F&B industry consulting works completed. Beyond these, we chased those F&B entrepreneurs to find out that are they got reported after improvement. And there are 78.4% of these cases do not be reported by citizens anymore.
Furthermore, we expanded regulative area this year to check thoroughly of three marketplaces in the city, including Gongguan, Yongkang St. and Yanji St. marketplaces, totally 30 stores inspected. The outcome showed the installed ratio of preventive pollution facilities were occupied 86.7% of them, also 50% of those who had preventive machines had front and end control equipments.
