For 22 consecutive years since 1992, the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) has been sponsoring the "Annual Enterprises Protection Award (AEEPA) of the Republic of China (ROC)". Up to this year, 256 organizations have been recognized for their outstanding performance in environmental protection, among which 32 organizations were honored with an AEEPA for three consecutive years.
To accommodate a diversified business sector, this year AEEPA is divided into six categories: Technology Industry, Traditional Industry, Professional and Technical Services, General Services, Small and Medium Enterprises and Public Enterprises and Institutions. The criteria for the selection include three items: environmental protection planning and management, achievements in environmental protection, and promotion of public awareness of the importance of environmental protection work.
The recipients of this year's (2013) AEEPA include 19 organizations. Striving to enhance environmental quality in Taiwan, the EPA has published the "Summary of the 22nd AEEPA Winners for Excellent Performance in Environmental Protection" which outlines the experiences of these organizations. In addition, the EPA will also sponsor demonstration seminars and site visits to some of the award-winning organizations' facilities, allowing the winners to share their experiences in promoting environmental protection.
In the meantime, the AEEPA is scheduling certification plan as the reference for future promotion.
