National Community Universities’ Climate Change Adaptation Education Project

National Association for the Promotion of Community Universities (NAPCU) has been commissioned to execute “National Community Universities’ Climate Change Adaptation Education Project” by Environmental Protection Administration from 2012 (trial plan) to 2015, dedicating to promoting climate change adaptation education. The strategy of the project is to prioritize communities and aim at practical actions, as well as to set up the international initiative “Community-based adaptation to climate change, CBA” as a long-term vision. As to promotional strategies, NAPCU initiates “interdisciplinary experts team” and “lectures, teaching plans, lecturers and action-plan-tutorial team” to set the core values, support local developing systems, and create the feedback mechanisms which allow cooperative strategies and intercommunications to work, making teachings and actions progress in a sophisticated context. Meanwhile, it also plans “4hrs climate change adaptation activities (50 sessions) and 32hrs climate change adaptation courses (10 sessions, one of which is Central Area Seed Teacher Training Program) to lay the foundations of teaching-as-adaptation-approaches in community universities in Taiwan, connecting activities to courses, thus accompany the community universities to go for the establishment of CBA learning centers.
