The main targets of the project include organic sludge drying technology promotive feasibility and waste cooking oil characteristic analysis for establish tracking indicator. The major outcomes are summarized as follows:
1.The practical examples of organic sludge drying in Taiwan and the international commercialized drying technologies are collected. Considering the current status of enterprises and sludge treatment/reuse facilities, the major restrictions and the corresponding solution for installing sludge dryers are assessed according to the footprint, energy requirement, the safety of working environment, and the odor emission. The results thus can provide required information for promoting the drying technology and setting the legal regulations.
2.This study analyzes the organic sludge samples of drying process and heat treatment process from photoelectric ,textile, and wastewater treatment industries, including the three components, total solids, fixed solids, volatile solids, pH, organic matters, nitrogen, phosphorus anhydride, heat value, elemental composition (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, chlorine) and possible odorous substances (organic sulfur and organic nitrogen). The results provide relevant reference for promoting or installing the sludge dryer in the industries, or for amending the related regulations and sludge classification.
3.The current status of the fried oil usage and habits at food stalls in night markets revealed by questionnaires, including the types of oils, frying time, and fried foods. The aforementioned parameters have been recorded and applied in the subsequent oil frying simulation in the laboratory.
4. Comparing the characteristics of commercial cooking oil, raw oil, waste cooking oil from night market and clear companies, and refinery oil samples from laboratory tests. High molecular weight polymerization product is more suitable as waste cooking oil tracking indicator.
