This project aims to hold a cross-strait conference and site visits in Taiwan and to assist Hunan, China for the soil and groundwater issues and technologies needed in China. In these two activities, experts and scholars from both sides will be invited to exchange information and experience, to identify the differences and the similarities of soil and groundwater problems occurred in both sides, and to seek mutually interesting issues for possible corporation. A platform will be established for the government and private sectors, and university professors to learn about and understand the soil and groundwater problems in Taiwan as well as in Hunan, China.
Specifically, there are mainly three tasks in this project: (1) to collect and summarize the information of control/remediation sites in Taoyuan; (2) to hold five (5) soil and groundwater pollution remediation conferences; and (3) to hold five (5) soil and groundwater pollution site demonstration activities.
The first task had been successfully completed, and the results are discussed in this report. For the other two tasks; Hunan Association of Environmental Protection Industry was invited to a business trip combined attending “Soil and Groundwater Pollution Management and Remediation Technique Knowledge Exchange Conference” and visiting five remediation sites in Taoyuan and Taichung.
