As always, the government authorities have been significantly concerned about the issue of indoor air quality, in particular in recent years. The Indoor Air Quality Act was officially passed on November 23, 2011. Since then, the management over the indoor air quality has become a key issue of the government administration.
In the present fiscal year, the gratifying achievements include:
1. We successfully completed the guidance and support of the special responsibility personnel in charge of maintenance and management of the indoor air quality in public places under control the managerial personnel and indoor air quality maintenance management programs in 14 spots covered in the first batch. In all the 14 sites, we have staffed specific responsibility personnel for maintenance and management and completed the indoor air quality maintenance and management programs.
2. We completed the patrol inspection and survey as well as guidance toward 62 public or non-public sites and arranged periodical inspection and tests on such sites which are in higher concentration of carbon dioxide or methanol.
3. We completed routine indoor air quality inspection and test in 25 public or non-public sites.
4. We invited scholars and experts to render supporting guides on indoor air quality at 10 public venues.
5. We sponsored five orientation meetings to publicize laws and ordinances concerned, with each event attended by over 50 participants.
6. We selected Show Chwan Memorial Hospital for prolonged monitoring inspections of the indoor air quality for three consecutive days. Using the data obtained from monitoring inspection for this testing, we estimated the sufficient ventilation volume and come up with a improvement measures for better ventilation. We further compiled the relevant information into ventilation improvement manuals.
7. We sponsored one conference on indoor air quality maintenance and management programs. The participants included the Economic Affair Department, the Department of City and tourism, the Public Health Bureau, and the Cultural Affair Bureau.
8. We released one dispatch to publicize indoor air quality maintenance and management information, prepared 1,000 propagandist products to promote indoor air quality, updated and maintain the indoor air quality information website of Changhua County.
In the wake of the implementation of the present Program, we would like to suggest four orientations for the Changhua County in the future efforts in the indoor air quality maintenance and management:
I. The efforts toward upgrade and promotion of the fundamental concepts of maintenance and management of the indoor air quality.
II. The efforts toward establishment of system for incentives toward remarkable performance of autonomous management.
III. The efforts toward expansion of the target invitees into the programs.
IV. The efforts toward establishment of technical papers about better improvement of indoor air quality for extensive references.
