This programme contents five primary subjects. First, Yunlin county’s general waste landfills management which includes environmental, soil and groundwater monitoring . Execution results are as follow:
1. Monitoring soil heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Zn) of 4 landfill sites. All monitoring results meet the Soil Pollution Monitor Standards and Soil Pollution Control Standards.
2. Monitoring groundwater condition in landfill sites. The results reveal that all testing results meet the Secondary Groundwater Control Standards, While, most exceed items are background and target water quality testing subjects. In order, is ammonia nitrogen > manganese > iron > Total Hardness > TDS > TOC > Chloride, Sulfate…etc.
3.Conducting Hu wei County’s landfill environmental monitoring, air condition meet the standards, the concentration of NH3, Nitrate and Cu for surface water pollution monitoring which had been higher than usual. Besides its groundwater pollutant NH3, Fe,Pb,TDS and Total Hardness had exceed the groundwater pollution monitoring standards.
The second subject is inspecting and assisting landfills to meet related regulation and improve disadvantages of management. For instants, Dongshi, Sihu and Lunbei township’s landfills have soil cover area, methane pipe management and labor management problems which should be improved. The closed landfills in Huwei, Linnei, Gukeng and Dounan township require to improve their cleanness of transfer area and waste water collection method. In addition, recovery landfills is recommended to maintain its environment and planning area regularly.
The third subject is to hold an award of meritorious outstanding environmental protection cleaners and luncheon of cleaning squadron members on Oct.19. There are 1,009 people attended the activity. The purpose of the activity is to commend the meritorious outstanding environmental protection cleaners, to appreciate the services of the cleaners and to celebrate the cleaning squadron members day.
The fourth subject is to hold an cleaning squadron business demonstration activity from Jun. 23-24. The attendances have reached 52 people. They have understood the process of waste incineration, the management of ash buried and maintenance and reuse effectiveness of restored sanitary by visiting the incineration plant, ash sanitary landfills and the restored sanitary landfills..
The fifth subject is to help each township to recycle the mercury thermometers. A total of 0.3kg of mercury thermometers will be treated by the agency Chung Tai Resource Technology Corp who have the LEVEL A Qualified certificate of waste disposal.
