射出級PLA再生料開發與試製計畫

中文摘要 近年來聚乳酸(PLA)使用量大增,台灣每年約產出1600噸的PLA廢棄物,主要用於一次性的包裝材料。由民國99年起,環保署已公告PLA為可回收廢棄物。然而與工廠回收的下腳料或特定活動或場所回收PLA杯盤不同,由一般廢棄物(MSW)回收的PLA廢塑料,常混雜有其他如PET、PE或PS等塑料,因外觀相近而分離不易。此外,回收的PLA廢棄物通常已有一定程度的劣化,因此在後續處理加工過程中必須特別考量以避免性質再下降。目前尚未有大量的分選製程來分離由一般廢棄物收集之廢PLA,此外文獻亦鮮少報導此類廢棄PLA的處理方式及特性。本計畫利用國內的資源回收廠的處理設備,進行由一般廢棄物回收並壓製成PLA瓶磚的分選程序,主要處理流程可分為解磚粉碎、清洗浮選及NIR篩選三階段,分選後的雜質率可低於3%。相較於PLA原料分子量(Mw.)為~150,000,回收的PLA瓶磚的分子量(Mw.)已下降至60,000~100,000之間,而經由分選處理後之分子量下降率不大。回收PLA之抗張強度與耐衝擊強度亦降至新料的~1/2。藉由摻配PLA新料(與回收料比例1:1)、擴鏈劑ADR-4370S (BASF)及工研院開發之奈米有機無機混成晶核劑,可提升再生料之機械物性與新料相近(抗張強度> 550kgf/cm2、彎曲強度>900kgf/cm2且耐衝擊強度>0.5ft-lb/in)。在射出應用時,利用100~110℃熱結晶處理60秒,可將熱變型溫度(@66psi)由55℃提升至90℃以上。

Development of Injection-Molded Products from recycled PLA

英文摘要 Polylactic acid (PLA) consumption is increasing in recent years, mostly one time use packaging materials. About 1600 tons/year of post-consumer PLA wastes are generated in Taiwan. From 2010, PLA has been regulated by Taiwan’s EPA as a recyclable item. However, the collected PLA wastes are often mixed together with PET, PE or PS. The separation process of “post-consumer” wastes is the most complex and results in high impurities in PLA recycle stream, compared to that of “post-industrial” or “short-loop” wastes. Moreover, the collected PLA wastes are typically deteriorated and further causion needs to be paid for processing. Until now, no industrial separation process has been made to separate PLA from municipal solid waste (MSW). There are also few reports on the assessment of the properties of recycled PLA from post-consumer garbage. In this project, we report the separation and recycling process of PLA from MSW recycling system, including human sorting, float-sink sorting and NIR sorting. The purity of the PLA waste after serial sorting and recycling process was higher than 97%; however, the molecular weight of the recycled and processed PLA flakes were typically downgraded from 150,000 of neat PLA to 60,000 ~ 100,000. The tensile strength and impact strength of recycled PLA were about half of neat PLA. By adding neat PLA resin (1:1 ratio to recycled PLA), commercial chain extender ADR-4370S (BASF) as well as ITRI-developed nano organic/inorganic hybrid nucleating aget, mechanical properties of the formulated recycled PLA were enhanced to the follows tensile strength > 550kgf/cm2, flexural strength>900kgf/cm2 and impact strength >0 .5 ft-lb/in, which were close to neat PLA. The HDT of the formulated recycled PLA were improved from 55℃to >90℃ by thermal annealing of the injected object at 100~110℃for 60s.
