Mobile source is one of the main causes of deterioration of air quality in the metropolitan area. Black smoke from diesel vehicles is denounced. The plan is designed to improve air quality in Taipei City and to provide the public with a clean and fresh living environment by implementing the inspection control program of various diesel vehicles.
According to the vehicle information analysis data from Vehicles Supervision, the registration number of vehicles in Taipei city in 2016 is estimated at around 80,000 vehicles, of which one and two term diesel vehicles accounted for 1.5% and 5.2% respectively. In the current visual inspection are more than 40,000 vehicles, of which one and two term diesel vehicles accounted for 5.1% and 11.8% respectively.
