In order to make the public understand strategies and implementation of water quality protection, and to facilitate the rapid access to governance information, the Department of Water Quality Protection (WQPD) in EPA has established a dedicated official website on Nov., 2016. The website aims to promote people’s understanding of the efforts and the objective of WQPD through a large number of interactive and dynamic illustrations as well as selective photos.
For providing more information on the website, this project includes five parts as follows.
(1) To establish the chronological RPI changes of water quality for the Erren River and Yanshui River, the project collects the RPI data automatically from EPA Opendata System. Furthermore, the website presents the history and effects of the river remediation of Lao-Jie River and Yanshui River.
(2)To expand the function of the website, the project establishes “Aqua-Environmental Guarding Net,” which presents the performance of patrol teams.
(3)By applying Big Data on 3 databases: the livestock farm periodic test reports from WQPD, inspection reports from Bureau of Environmental Inspection, and basic information of livestock farms from Agricultural Bureau, it is expected to generalize the operation modes on waste water by means of big data analysis.
(4) To advertise EPA’s governance performance, the project designs 17 pictures applicable to community websites and apps, ranging from festivals, greetings, and environmental protection activities.
(5)3 training courses for 2 systems are held in Taipei and Kaohsiung respectively. In addition, the project keeps maintaining the website and an information telephone line during EPA’s office hours is available to provide the consultation service.
