The Eastern Environmental Education Regional Center has continued our efforts to promote environmental education initiatives throughout the three counties of Yilan, Hualien and Taitung in 2017. This is our final annual report presenting our work items and results from this year.
1) Leadership Academy: Advanced the promotion and implementation of core topics such as ”water resources protection,” “green energy and conservation,” ”community (public) involvement,” as well as topics pertaining to local characteristics and features of the region such as ”garbage and resource renewal,” “national land use planning and environmental education,” “marine mammal conservation,” and “tourism/outlying island development.”
2) Building Environmental Education Capacity: Organized the Community Environmental Education Promotion Guidance Seminar, assisted three partnership affiliations apply for environmental education promotional activity plans, presented three papers at academic conferences, and assisted in organizing the Environmental Education Regional Center Annual Results Presentation Seminar.
3) Technology to Support the Field: Set up and continue to update our Center’s website, established a database of organizational partners and professional learning communities, publish bimonthly electronic newsletters, collected and compiled information on college and university environmental-related departments and student club activities in the eastern region, completed filming the environmental education films titled Mystery of Organic Farming and Green Garbage, assisted in the voting selections for the best film, and held eight working group online meetings.
4) Research and Evaluation: Assisted in the planning and execution of university debate contests and organized numerous youth environmental education promotional activities, completed the Environmental Education Regional Center Operational Management Assessment Manual, in November convened the Performance Assessment and Appraisal Committee Conference, completed the Indigenous Peoples’ Environmental Education Promotion Plan Proposal and convened an inquiry committee conference, and organized three indigenous peoples’ environmental education activities.
5) Dissemination Partnerships: Established partnerships with 46 agencies and organizations, cooperated with local partners working together to plan and organize fee-based environmental education programs, promoted environmental education in cooperation with eastern region partners and industry organizations, assisted enterprises conduct Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report questionnaires and established cooperative relationships with enterprises, and assisted partners create joint publications and held practical exchange forums.
