In February 2012, Taipei City Government launched Climate Change Adaptation Project with the support from Council for Economic Planning and Development. The medium- to long-term project was expected to establish a climate resilient capital before 2030.
This year, the project was sponsored by Taipei City Government to review and modify the 2012 version. Taking the extreme weather events and impacts happened in recent years into consideration, the rolling strategies and action plans have been adjusted. The following is a summary of the project:
1.Develop the strategies for urban heat island mitigation.
2.Reexamination of Taipei City Climate Change Adaptation Project and Action Plan and to conduct demonstrative case studies.
3.Establishment and maintenance of the oversight and evaluation mechanism for Taipei City Climate Change Adaptation Project.
4.Initiating campaigns and trainings to improve the public’s knowledge level in climate adaptation.
5.Crafting a white paper on the action plan for the climate change adaption policy.
