The team carried out the "promotion plan on reduction of single-use product in non-plastic island of Pingtung County in 2018." The implementation period is from November 29, 2018 to August 31, 2019. As of August 15, 2019, all the work items of the plan has been completed. The following is a summary of the implementation results of this plan.
1. Promote the work of circulation system on the beverage tumbler of beverage stores in Ryukyu Township.
The project promotes “the work of the beverage tumbler circulation system in the beverage store of the Ryukyu Township (hereinafter referred to as the System Work) to establish the slogan of the "Ryushin Tumbler Sharing Action,” and to name the leased eco tumbler as "Ryushin Tumbler." The image is a small "Ryu" Kyu popular "Tumbler."
The task team has successfully couseled 19 beverage shops and 4 convenient stores to cooperate with the implementation of the "System Work," where can rent and return the Ryushin Tumbler. The project is even more to counsel and plan 4 places that can only return the Ryushin Tumbler, and plan 1 shop and Ryukyu Visitor Center that can borrow the Ryushin Tumbler only. In addition, we also plan to set up the "Ryushin Tumbler Cleaning Station" at the store next to the Ryukyu Visitor Center. The demonstration operation period of the project is from Febuary 11 to August 10, 2019 and the returned tumblers are collected for centralized cleaning and high temperature disinfection.
2. Complete the planning and propose the work plan on the beverage tumbler circulation system of the beverage stores in Ryukyu Township.
3. Handle and rent the beverage tumbler cleaning station and cleaning equipment.
The rental site of the cleaning station is set up at the tourist center of the Dapeng Bay Ryukyu Management Station after the site survey. The rental equipment of this project includes commercial door-type dishwashers, working benches, disinfection cabinets, tumbler holders, heat storage water heaters, logistics boxes, water towers and pressurized motors, etc. The machine can clean about 400 or more Ryushin Tumblers per hour. But it might take 2 hours to clean 400 Ryushin Tumblers because they needed to be soaked, cleaned, dried, and then stored in the logistics box. After cleaning, the tumblers are regularly sent for inspection to ensure the quality of hygiene, and the results of the inspections are in line with the standards.
4. Complete an advocacy seminar for the beverage tumbler circulation system of the beverage stores.
5. Complete a demonstration learning workshop for the beverage tumbler circulation system of the beverage stores.
6. Complete the pilot program for the implementation of leased containers in the outlying islands. The demonstration period is 6 months, and an evaluation report of the implementation results is proposed.
7. Complete a demonstration seminar for the implementation results of pilot program on promotion of leased containers in the outlying islands.
8. Plan and coordinate at least 10 local stores to introduce the demonstration projects of environment-friendly tumbler rentals where beverage or food stores are intensive.
The task team has couseled 19 beverage shops, 4 convenient stores, Ryukyu Visitor Centers, and Island Stay (an ocean independent bookstore) to join the project and 25 sites in total as the return place for the rental Ryushin Tumbler. The concept of rental at one place and return at other place is introduced, therefore visitors do not have to return the Ryushin Tumbler to the original rental store. The LINE group is established for cooperated stores to provide customer service including system operation, malfunction report, delivery and replenishment of the Ryushin Tumblers, and suggestions for optimization, etc.
9. Provide reusable environment-friendly beverage tumblers for rental, and be responsible for recycling and professional cleaning services.
From February 11 to August 10, the results of 25 sites for rental of the Ryushin Tumbler, a total of 36,073 tumblers were borrowed, and the average rental tumblers were around 6,012 tumblers/month during the 6-month implementation period, which was successfully achieved the project goal.
10. Design an environment-friendly beverage bag based on the culture of the outlying island.
This project designed 2 models of tote bags for stainless steel tumbler, including 2,000 beverage tote bags placed in cultural and creative design “Ryushin Tumbler Sharing Action” logo of the Outlying Island culture, and another model of 1,000 special promotional tote bags with “Star Drink Tumbler” logo.
11. Complete a poster design for advocacy activity with the beverage tumbler container rental.
12. Complete production of designed posters for advocacy activity with the beverage tumbler container rental and posted them at the ticket office of the sightseeing spots, etc.
The project produced 200 copies of poster for advocacy of the Ryushin Tumbler rental, completed the posting at the ticket office of the sightseeing spots, and output A4 size posters announced at the joined stores of the “Ryushin Tumbler Sharing Action.”
13. Design an environmental protection action poster for the deposit of environment-friendly beverage tumbler of the beverage stores in outlying island, and execute the reusable advertising poster placed in the chair back net bag of the transportation boat for the outlying island.
From mid-June to July, posters were distributed in the chair back net bag of 5 transportation boats for Ryukyu. A total of 2,000 more copies of the propaganda were issued, and special personnel were dispatched from time to time at the boarding gate of transportation boat in the Baisha Fishing Port of Ryukyu during this period. Posters were also placed at the ticket office of the sightseeing spot for tourists to request to play the role of field promotion of the Ryushin Tumblerd. In addition, the project has set up two large-scale propaganda canvases at the boarding place of transportation boat in Baisha Fishing Port to increase the exposure of the " Ryushin Tumbler Sharing Action."
14. Counsel 64 homestays not to provide complimentary toiletries and offer non-disposable toiletries.
15. Complete a promotion seminars on the waste reduction of disposable supplies and resource recycling for the homestays in the outlying island.
16. Execute the inspection of garbage mandatory classification for homestays
The inspection pass rate of the garbage mandatory classification for homestays was from 75% (statistics from December 2018 to February 2019) to 92% (statistics from March to July 2019), and the overall pass rate was about 85%.
17. Execute the inspection of garbage mandatory classification of the households in the outlying island
The inspection pass rate of the garbage mandatory classification for household was 65% (statistics from December 2018 to February 2019) to 94% (statistics from March to July 2019), and the overall pass rate was about 82%.
18. Promote the adoption of environment-friendly tableware and counsel the adoption of reused environment-friendly tableware for the restaurants in the outlying island.
Executive counseling for 41 restaurant operators, in which 19 restaurants and snacks have adopted environment-friendly tableware, 22 provide both of disposable and environment-friendly tableware for customers to choose. After counseling, they have only provided environment-friendly tableware in order to reduce the amount of garbage produced.
19. Complete the subtract of 5,040 promotions on cable TV broadcast and 45 promotions on electronic media, 5,085 have completed in total.
20. Complete 8 advocacy seminars on reduction of disposable products on campus, one large-scale promotion activity on plastic-reduction light travel, and two activities on "non-plastic tourism in Ryukyu."
21. Complete the shooting of a short film on non-plastic short trip in Ryukyu.
