The contents of this project include the following four major categories: the appraisal and management of the air quality purification area, sponsoring the promotion of environmental greening, surveys of bare lands, and investigations into greening of public lands.In total, 61 air quality purification area sites are subsidized in this county by the Environmental Protection Administration, and 14 sites are subsidized by the Environmental Protection Bureau, for a grand total of 75 sites. Altogether, the total area measures 59.6 hectares, with the length of green road as long as 18.9 kilometers.The implementation period runs from October 2019 to July 2020, during which time a total of 128 air quality purification areas will have been checked and assessed, thus meeting the contract objectives. Furthermore, photos and records will serve as evidence for the inspection and assessment.For the year-end evaluation and appraisal, eight air quality purification areas have been decorated with awards, and the presentation of medals and gift certificates have been arranged. Health examination investigations were held at five respective spots of the air quality purification areas, with three of them requiring further improvement.A briefing session on the analysis of common plant diseases and pests in the air quality purification area was held to improve maintenance personnel’s knowledge about basic identification of plant diseases and pests. Furthermore, an investigation into the carbon sink was carried out at 20 sites, totaling 4,046 plants, and the total carbon pickup has reached 400.34 tons of CO2. On November 26, 2019, the Environmental Protection Administration held an awards ceremony for the outstanding adoption authority of the air quality purification area. Lunxi Community of Erlun Township won the Silver Contribution Award, and Xing-zhong Community and Xitun Community of Huwei Township won the Excellent Performance Award. In addition to being honored with these awards, the county then arranged public commendation for environmental protection volunteers and water environment patrol teams at the county meetings and presented certificates of appreciation and award money.During the promotion-related operations for environmental greening, five promotional briefing sessions were held, four of which were held at holidays (combined with large-scale events in Yunlin County), for a total of 1,253 participants. Furthermore, the follow-up operation and tracking for maintaining the current status of Erlun Community seedling-nursery was implemented, with the task conducted twice. The idle land of the community has also been renovated in order to establish greening at five places, thus increasing the space for public leisure by 542.5 square meters.The checking operation of bare lands was implemented, and a total of 250 inspections were conducted over an area of 43.2 hectares. The checking operation was carried out over the bare lands within the 5-km periphery of the monitoring station, with a total of 130 inspections conducted over 52.3 hectares. To handle the contingency operation of unfavorable air quality, a total of 166 sprayings were carried out, and the size of the area completed through this task reached 23.4 hectares. Furthermore, improvement operations at 16 sites of sub-bare lands were furnished, and the overall improvement area has reached 15.4 hectares. In the end, fallow and green manure promotion operations were conducted and furnished at the farmland, with an overall application area of 40.8 hectares.
