In 2018, the Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development (herein referred to as NCSD) announced at the 31th committee meeting that the draft of “Taiwan’s Sustainable Development Goals” was approved after amendments to the opinions of committee members and the approved SDGs would be published on the website of NCSD. In response to this decision, the Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan entrusted by NCSD to create the Project of International Participation of Taiwan Sustainable Development Goals with the target to hold an international conference on Sustainable Development Goals, and establish position papers on Taiwan’s Sustainable Development Goals, report on the status of Taiwan’s Sustainable Development Goals implementation, SDGs implementation comparison report and promotion material of Taiwan’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 6 and Goal 17).
On June 4th and June 5th, 2019, the project conducted four parallel workshops and held the International Conference on a Sustainable Taiwan: Accelerating the Localization of UNSDG. The workshops and international conference were attended by 227 people and 431 people, respectively. A total of 26 domestic and foreign experts, scholars and representatives of local environmental protection agencies were invited to the international conference and dialogues and exchanges related with the promotion of sustainable development goals took place.
In order to educate and promote Taiwan sustainable development goals, 10 short promotion videos were also produced to introduce the concept of sustainable development to the public. Position papers on Taiwan’s Sustainable Development Goals, report of Taiwan’s Sustainable Development Goals implement, SDGs Comparison Report and promotion material of Taiwan’s Sustainable Development Goals were developed as a policy planning reference or SDGs promoting material of the Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan.
