This project carries out from February 12 to December 15, 2019, and the outcome of it is demonstrated as follows:
(1)Guidance meeting
During the annual project was conducted, three information sessions about indoor air quality (IAQ) have been held this year.
(2)Investigation of indoor air quality of 100 sites (200 times)
The IAQ in 201 locations have been inspected. With portable automatic detection monitors, abnormal IAQ have been detected in 95 locations. The abnormal results of detection were dominated by gyms and hospitals, followed by social welfare institutions and kindergartens. The abnormal indoor air quality of hospitals and gyms was related to poor ventilation and the use of disinfection solvents in some spaces. The abnormal IAQ in social welfare institutions and kindergartens was related to the use of disinfection solvents and poor ventilation, respectively.
(3)Aiding 100 sites to set up maintenance and management regulations
This project has aided 101 locations to set up and fill up maintenance and management plans with examinations. At the same time, this project also offers strategies and solutions while the indoor air quality is necessary to be improved. At first, we illustrate related laws and duties that they should follow and fulfill, and we remind them of the daily maintenance regulations.
(4)Holding inter-bureau coordination meetings
The inter-bureau coordination meeting was held to keep track of the issues brought up at 2018 yearly meeting. Besides, we suggest the related bureaus deal with the following issues of 2019: to fulfill the scheduled tasks, to investigate the targeted sites on the list, such as gyms, child care centers, and underground parking lots.
(5)Examining the standards of indoor air quality at 18 locations
This project has commissioned the organizations certificated by the Environmental Protection Administration to inspect and examine 8 announced sites and 10 sites with abnormal IAQ. The results show that four sites exceed IAQ standard. They are the Fitness Factory (Bacteria: 1800 CFU/m3), the Fitness Factory (CO2: 1210 ppm), the central square underground parking lot management room (CO2: 1253 ppm, Bacteria: 4178 CFU/m3), and the Chiayi Ren-ai Senior Citizens' Home (O3:0.068 ppm).
(6)Continuously inspecting CO2 at 3 locations
Continuously inspecting CO2 at 3 locations. The project carried out a one-week continuous CO2 monitoring for three sites (Chiayi Christian Hospital Food Street, Yipin-Xiang Hot Pot Restaurant, and Drew restaurant). We have accurately inspected CO2 concentration at different time, and then make related suggestions for them about how to maintain and manage ventilation as their necessary references.
(7)On-site aiding 12 locations to maintain and manage indoor air quality
Two experts and scholars were invited to conduct on-site counselling for 12 locations. The 12 locations selected are due to abnormal indoor air quality, poor maintenance management, declared places and voluntary participation of companies. Common IAQ problems observed from on-site counseling are insufficient ventilation, air conditioning filter is not regularly cleaned up, and dust accumulation on the air outlet of air conditioning system.
(8)Investigation of indoor air quality at 30 non-publication sites
The indoor air quality of 79 non-publication sites have been inspected, including homes, shops and offices. We have provided related suggestions for them to maintain indoor air quality.
2.Integrating indoor air quality information and maintaining its databases
(1) Updating and maintaining the basic information of public locations in Chiayi
(2) Updating and maintaining the information network of indoor air quality in Chiayi
3.Other matters handled by the project
(1) Broadcasting news about indoor air qualit
