This project is primarily to help and cooperate with the waste reduction
policy of Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), and also sponsor
product-source reduction event to achieve the objective of waste reduction.
Besides, it also works to promote the policy of resource reuse, recycles usable
second-hand objects, and allows second-hand objects to be reused or continued
with utility life-span for people in need through exchange activities. As such, it
should increase the value of objects, extend the service life of second-hand
objects, reduce waste, and effectively cut down resources waste.
The project will review and evaluate the operation process by the cleaning
squadron for mandatory garbage classification within the county in order to
facilitate the promotion of resource recovery task and other undertakings.
According to the contract, the personnel and equipment for this project were set
in place on March 18, 2020 (Chiayi County Environmental Protection Bureau
issued the document as serial No. 1090008383 dated March 20 of 2020 for
approval and future reference), while the summary of work implementation
results is found as follows:
1. Promote source reduction with regard to disposal -product
Sponsor self-provided environmental-friendly cups, beverage cups, and
rental tableware services as well as certification for plastic reduction stores. A
total of 866 rental cups were promoted this year. Besides, rental beverage cups
at large-scale demonstration activities and tableware services were conducted,
with1,040 people taking part. In addition, the project has also completed the
certification for 5 plastic reduction stores. As a result, accumulative privileges
with 6,704 cups were offered in view of the promotion for self-prepared and ecofriendly
cups to enjoy discount activities.
2. Promotion related businesses in relation to resource reuse and others
For this year, 10 newly-added collection points were added and secondhand
treasure hunting maps established, working in combination with Chiayi
Good Market to sponsor the reuse activity with second-hand recycled objects
and product inspection and maintenance services. A total of 606 people had
participated, and the number of second-hand recycled objects for reuse reached
3,857, while 139 small household appliances were diagnosed for maintenance
and repair. Besides, the results of implementation for resource reuse in the
county in recent years were compiled and organized, and 5 sessions of
presentations on the results of resource reuse were conducted for county public,
seeing a total of 212 participants.
3. Counseling for garbage mandatory classification task
Project staff project has headed for the cleaning squadron to coach the legal
operation procedures for supposedly recycling items, and reviewed and
optimized the recycling and classification of resources in order to improve the
effectiveness of back-end reuse. To make it easier for general public to search
for resource recovery channels and related knowledge on Internet, the
Environmental Protection Bureau has set up the newly focused area of
information as "Resource Recovery Items and Reuse Advocacy" --- the section
of regeneration encyclopedia on the bureau's website to provide the public with
channels for information.
