The project was held two information sessions about Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for Target business authority and different venue categories. The objects are public high schools, public elementary schools and public kindergarten, those sites will be examined and monitoring by Tainan City Government in 2020. The point of view about these sessions are laws related to IAQ and proposals of improvement. Additionally, a cross-office horizontal negotiation meeting also be held to discussing responsibilities and obligation of each office and work items of individual division.
Regarding the planning of patrolling and inspection, we working on 115 announced public sites and 110 preparatory announcing sites (The preparatory sites are including: (a.) Public high schools, elementary schools and kindergartens, they are the assessment objects by Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) in 2020. (b.) District hospital (c.) Swimming pools and playgrounds, these sites are joint inspection with Department of Sports and Economic Development Bureau of Tainan City Government.) Among them, 52 sites showed momentary peak values, the reasons are most of sites had doors and windows closed and also used internal circulation air conditioner has resulted in high levels of carbon dioxide. Some of them are had high levels of formaldehyde and TVOC due to the use of antiseptic and detergent. In addition, PM10 and PM2.5 are occasionally affected by the poor outdoor air quality and the water vapor from swimming pool, resulting in momentary peak value. In the project we also carried out continuous automatically monitoring of carbon dioxide and PM2.5 in 5 public sites during their opening hours. Than screening out the sites with high concentrations for more than three days. The results showed that concentrations of carbon dioxide in 2 public sites were probable higher than the regulated standard.
According to inspecting and measuring of standard for announced public sites principles by EPA, there are 40 public sites and 161 items have been performed in this project, Including 4 gyms, 5 KTVs, 6 movie theaters, 10 markets, 5 government offices, 2 colleges and 8 museums. There are 37 sites compliance with the standard, another 3 sites are analyzing. In order to strengthen the willingness of self-management of IAQ in public and private sites, we counselling 20 preparatory announcing sites to planning their IAQ project, including 5 high schools, 5 elementary schools and 10 kindergartens. We also arranged experts to where had momentary peak value that we screening out 6 sites. The experts assist them to finding out the possibility of pollution sources, and provided suggestions for improvement.
The project managed and maintained the website” Indoor Air Quality of Tainan City”. We informed latest news, update the results of inspection, laws and policies promotion of EPA, renew the data of announcement sites. During the project on 2020 Jun, we assist a high school and an elementary school to equipping the PM2.5 air purifier to improve the indoor air quality. The examining and scoring performance concerning IAQ has been achieved by Environmental Protection Bureau of Tainan City Government through the help of our team. Self- scoring was at 100 point in 2020 city Municipal and County Government Cooperating on Promotion of the Management Act governing indoor air quality(IAQ) and noisy. Furthermore, we tracking 117 announced sites and there are 4 newly established sites have not completed the inspection yet, the rest of sites are finished in regulations.
