Environmental education is an important foundation of environmental protection. The purpose is to help people to take responsibility for the environment, solve environmental problems in daily life, implement environmental protection and achieve the goal of sustainable development.
Environmental Protection Administration Executive Yuan (hereinafter referred to as the EPA) conducted the environmental education training for kindergarten teachers to train kindergarten teachers in correct environmental protection knowledge. In kindergarten teaching, they can use picture books to tell stories, play performances and self-made teaching aids, so as to improve the diversity and correctness of kindergarten environmental education.
Therefore, one citizen cafe and one workshop were held in the north area and the south area respectively. The citizen cafe had a total of 155 participants. The participants were invited to discuss environmental issues in the form of group discussion. Experts and scholars are the table leaders, solve the problem immediately and give them the correct ideas. A total of 124 participants participated in the workshop. Through group learning and group discussions, a total of 16 environmental education teaching programs were planned. They were promoted by back to school teaching mechanism.
In order to enhance children’s knowledge of environmental protection, EPA organized the 2020 Environmental Education Picture Books Carnival. It gathered 79 high-quality books from 22 counties and cities across Taiwan’s environmental education picture books solicitation to promote environmental education picture books to teachers and parents through exhibitions. The environmental education pictures books are read with vivid, interesting paintings and easy-to-understand words. The picture books inspire children to understand the importance of environmental protection and go green life. The aim of environmental education is to build children’s environmental protection foundation.
Let children realize the importance of environmental protection from an early age, stimulate their love for the environment, and develop a life attitude of caring for life and protecting the natural environment.
