In order to promote revealing of carbon footprint on products and services, also to prevent high cost and lengthy procedure of carbon footprint audit, Critical Review Service is established according to ISO 14044:2006 and ISO/TS 14071：2014. The purpose of this Critical Review is meant not only to digitalize the whole auditing process, but also to provide audit options other than third party certification on carbon footprint, aiming to increase the intention of domestic industries on calculating product/service carbon footprint.
The main target of this project is to assist the operation of Critical Review of Carbon Footprint and Reduced Carbon Footprint, as required information was provided and reviewed through the Carbon Footprint Information Platform. Through promoting this Critical Review System, we hope to increase the number of carbon footprint (or reduced carbon footprint) labeled products/services in Taiwan.
The results of this project are listed as follows:
1.Following the “Critical Review Committee Member Election Requirement” and according to one’s audit experience, knowledge in lifecycle assessment and industrial expertise…etc., 30 committee members were selected and approved by Environment Protection Agency(EPA) to assist the operation of Critical Review Service.
2.The Critical Review is conducted through the Carbon Footprint Information Platform. In 2020, 3 products applied for Critical Review and all 3 products completed the audit and received the Carbon Footprint report. In 2021, 6 products applied for Critical Review, with 3 products completed, 2 could not complete before the end of this project and 1 application withdrawn.
