Based on the foundation established by the Environmental Sensing Internet of Things (IoT) related projects from the 2017 to 2020, this project assists the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) to strengthen the intelligent environment Internet of Things system using micro-sensors, data calibration and analysis, etc. The information collection and analysis of international environmental Internet of Things applications and domestic air quality sensing application have been completed, and the suggestions for exploring future domestic environmental sensing component and technologies have been made. The overall volume of mobile sensors ( Mobile of Things, MoT) has been reduced by optimizing the design of the mechanism, and the consistency and accuracy of the equipment have been also improved and verified by adjusting technology and dynamic test comparison. Besides, the applications of MoT have been extended to Taichung Port for mobile sensing and to the assistance in evaluating the high-polluting vehicle. The aforementioned applications are conducive to the expansion of cross-domain applications in the future. The deployment and verification of the array of things (AoT) has completed at demonstration fields. Analyze different aspects of the regional environment through multiple environmental data sensing and analysis, and verify the overall feasibility through field tests. It can integrate government resources and heterogeneous sensing information, extend the scope of application, and create more value-added and diffusion benefits in the future. To improve the quality of environmental sensing data and application practices, perform cloud inspections, sensor dynamic calibration, and attenuation analysis for sensing data. The relevant analysis results, sensor abnormality management, correction formula optimization and other suggestions are provided to the EPA and Local environmental protection bureaus (EPB) to strengthen overall data quality. The progress of co-organizing with the local government has successively achieved the deployment and maintenance of 10,011 sensors nationwide, and PMO assist the EPA and EPB in completing relevant funding and other implementation tasks. PMO collects the conditions of IoT operation by the local governments and provides relevant suggestions and assistance to the EPB, and assists in the inspection of local government maintenance and operation sensor locations, data quality satisfaction, etc. In terms of integrating and verifying the implementation effect of environmental sensing IoT, PMO internally assists in the management of this total project progress, and cooperates with the requirements of the superior management examination unit to improve the overall project promotion. Besides, PMO organizes and publicizes the results of the project through the exclusive website and event management.
Therefore, in this project, PMO has completed 90% of the contracted work items projects since February 2021, meeting the requirements of the end-of-term report. Through the implementation of this project, the quality of sensing data will be improved, and the application practices of smart cities and environmental law enforcement have been developed. This project uses Taiwan as the verification field to strengthen the effectiveness of assisting environmental smart law enforcement, and achieve the benefits of optimizing the environmental quality sensing IoT system, extending the intelligent application of environmental networking, and enhancing the public perception. PMO and EPA will continue to move towards and realize the project vision of "Internet of Everything, Environmental Optimization, Innovative R&D, and Industry Driven".
