In order to understand the correlation between weather patterns and air quality, this present project continues comprehensively analyzing the daily weather patterns and expanding the historical database of the query tool from 2021 until now. Besides, it is contemporaneously added pollutant trend graphs and optimized query tool function, which helps users can quickly research and present complete information in the past as well as provide a reference for air quality forecasters.
Previously, we preliminary study and statistics the distributions of typhoon location, typhoon peripheral circulation, and typhoon influence on air pollution event day with the period from 2009 to 2018. Based on that, we plan to build a typhoon air quality database which includes analyzing the PM2.5, PM10, O3, and O3,8hr concentration values of grid points and monitoring stations, calculating the number of days and frequencies of pollution events in each grid. In this phase, we also add the typhoon database in 2019 to continue the previous results. Moreover, the relationship between ozone air pollution events and the weather pattern is also discussed therefrom we can describe the overall meteorological characteristics when ozone occurs in spring and autumn together with analyzing the beginning and end of typical ozone events.
In this project, we also provided a potential tool that can use in forecasting air quality for the next 7 days, assists the EPA in the analysis of air quality pollution incidents, and provides an AERMOD diffusion model to analyze air pollution emergencies. On the other hand, we have provided two graphic to transfer the correct message about the causes of air pollution to the public. We made implemented training programs to the staff of the EPA, and submitted monthly work reports, and exchanging the latest information.
