To encourage corporate social responsibility in promoting environmental protection work, the Enterprise Environmental Protection Award was established in 1992, and now the event is entering its 30th year. (From 1992 to 2018, a total of 27 Republic of China Enterprise Environmental Protection Awards were conducted, and the National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award was conducted in 2019). To date, 568 companies have won the awards. The participating enterprises have gone through the stages of primary selection, re-election group review, video review of all committee members, and final selection. This year, A total of 52 winning enterprises have been selected, including 2 Giant Thumb Awards, 7 Gold Awards, 19 Silver Awards, and 24 Bronze Awards.
Enterprises that participated in this year’s award competition have demonstrated excellent environmental protection records, with a total electricity saving of 516.7 million kWh in 2020 (enough to provide one month of power supply to 1,740,000 families), water saving of 28.32 million cubic meters, rain water collection of over 660,345 tons (equivalent to one month of water supply to 830,000 families), installation of solar power facility to generate 673 million kWh of electricity (enough to provide one month of power supply to 2,290,000 families), purchasing 58,138 renewal energy certificates, a total of 630,000 tons of carbon reduction (equivalent to 1,620 Daan Forest Parks’ carbon absorption in a year.) These enterprises responded to the government’s environmental policy by participation in environmental action, with the amount of green procurement reaching 3.39 billion TWD, 26 companies signed a response to green office, 90 restaurants under the company's jurisdiction joined the ranks of green restaurants, the adoption of 19 public restrooms and 23 kilometers of shoreline, and the participation in beach cleanups by 7,258 people, having collected 133 tons of marine waste.
The EPA has published a summary of the 3rd NEEPA Winners for Excellent Performance in Environmental Protection, which outlines the experiences of these organizations. In addition, the EPA will conduct demonstration seminars and site visits to some of the award-winners’ facilities, allowing the winners to share their experiences in carrying out environmental work.
