To encourage corporate social responsibility in promoting environmental protection work, the Enterprise Environmental Protection Award has been in operation for 31 years since its inception in 1992, with a total of 638 award-winning enterprises. In the stages of review, on-site survey and final selection, a total of 70 award-winning enterprises were selected, including 4 Giant Awards, 6 Gold Awards, 19 Silver Awards, 35 Bronze Awards, and 6 Finalists.
In line with the country's 2050 goal of net-zero transformation, most of the 83 enterprises registered in this year have incorporated energy conservation and carbon reduction into their actions, and combined the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) as the aspects of corporate management, 63 enterprises have published corporate social responsibility reports. Enterprises that participated in this year’s award competition have demonstrated excellent environmental protection records, with a total electricity saving of 226.9 million kWh in 2021 (enough to provide one month of power supply to 644.8 thousand families), water saving of73.57 million cubic meters, rain water collection of over195,300 tons (equivalent of one month of water supply to 2.18 million families), installation of solar power facility to generate 217.7 million kWh of electricity (enough to provide one month of power supply to 618,580 families), purchasing 183,613 renewal energy certificates, a total of 234,801 tons of carbon reduction (equivalent to 604 Daan Forest Parks’ carbon absorption in a year). In addition, these enterprises responded to the government’s environmental policy by participation in environmental action, with the amount of green procurement reaching 4.47 billion TWD, 50 enterprises have signed up in response to the call for green working environment, with 121 restaurants operated under these enterprises joined the green restaurant transformation, the adoption of 146 public restrooms and 34 kilometers of shoreline, and the participation in 120 sites of beach cleanups by 7,120 people.
In order for the award-winning facts from these enterprises can be accumulated, shared, passed on and promoted, the EPA has published a summary of the 4th NEEPA Winners for Excellent Performance in Environmental Protection, which outlines the experiences of these organizations. In addition, the EPA will conduct demonstration seminars and site visits to some of the award-winners’ facilities, allowing the winners to share their experiences in carrying out environmental work.
