The objective of this project includes: (1) investigate the meteorological characteristics that are related to the air pollution problem; (2) enhance the forecasting capability of the air quality modeling system; (3) develop the CMAQ-PAMS system to improve VOCs emission inventory and O3 forecasting capability; (4) strengthen the forecasting capability of the air quality forecasters and support the daily air quality forecasts (AQF).
The major tasks conducted include: (1) develop air quality forecasting systems which used TEDS10 and TEDS11 anthropogenic emission; (2) develop the CMAQ-PAMS simulation technique and improve the VOC emission inventory; (3) enhance the understanding of the performance of the PBL simulation and air pollution dispersion process; (4) develop the weather classification based bias correction method to enhance the air quality forecasting capability, the method currently is in operation.
