The Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan (hereinafter referred to as the EPA) specially organizes environmental education training courses for kindergarten teachers, expecting to cultivate correct environmental protection knowledge for kindergarten teachers, and to use multiple teaching abilities in kindergarten teaching to enhance the diversity and correctness of children's environmental education.
One civic cafe and one workshop are respectively held in the North District and the South District respectively; the civic cafe allows participants to discuss environmental issues in the form of group discussion, and experts and scholars act as table leaders to solve problems immediately. A total of 141 kindergarten teachers participated. The workshop included energy-enhancing courses, group exchange learning and group discussions. A total of 143 kindergarten teachers participated, and managed 44 environmental education teaching courses . After returning to school, they assisted in the teaching and promotion of children's environmental education.
The Environmental Protection Agency continues to promote environmental education for young children through multiple methods; especially story books to promote environmental education have achieved very good results. In recent years, due to the epidemic situation, online storytelling has accompanied many children's lives at home to prevent epidemics, thus accelerating the progress of podcasts. The Environmental Protection Agency has set up an environmental education podcast program "Listen to Stories and Love the Environment". Starting from October 4th, one episode will be released every Tuesday, with a total of 5 episodes. It is currently on the main podcast platforms that Chinese people often listen to (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Sound on, Spotify, KKBOX) to present picture books on special topics selected from environmental education picture books over the years in the form of storytelling, to cultivate children and lower grades to learn environmental protection knowledge, and to let environmental education take root.
In order to enhance children's knowledge of environmental protection, the Environmental Protection Agency held the 2022 Environmental Education Picture Book Carnival from October 15th to 16th, 2022. It gathered 76 outstanding works from the selection of environmental education picture books from 22 counties and cities in Taiwan. Environmental education picture books were promoted to teachers and parents. During the exhibition period, the total number of visitors reached 2,141. Under the guidance of localized environmental education picture books, teachers and parents can discuss their own living environment problems with children, and share with them the concept of caring for the environment. It is hoped that the concept of environmental protection can be inspired from an early age, and children can think about how to solve the environment At the same time, we also reflect on how to protect the environment in our daily life.
