The National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD), promulgated Taiwan Sustainable Development Goals (T-SDGs) in 2018, which included 18 goals, 143 targets, and 336 indicators. The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) has been acting as the lead organization of the Green Environment Working Circle (GEWC) since 2021. To manage the promotion of sustainability goals for Goals 6, 12, 13, 14, and 15. The achievement rates of the above goals in 2021 were 89.7%, 82.8%, 80%, 100%, and 92.3%, respectively, and 34 indicators were revised and reviewed.
The Green Environment Working Circle is composed of 10 ministries, so the integration and management of information across ministries depend on systematic integration. The project maps out a sustainable development pathway for the environment, incorporating domestic and international policy information from 6 major issues. Additionally, we utilize the Management Examination Pathway Map as a tracking tool to clarify the context and ensure that we are moving together toward 2030 sustainability. We develop tools for improving cooperation efficiency, including 4 cooperation models among central and local governments, as well as sustainable development promotion plans for local government.
To demonstrate sustainable development achievements implemented by the EPA, we summarized the critical performances in 2022 VDR. We have also compared related policies and higher-level programs, analyzed the sustainability and completeness of each indicator, and provided suggestions for future enhancement. In purpose of inducing companies to disclose their environment information in unified method, we propose the "Enterprise ESG Environmental Indicators Disclosure Guidelines (Draft)" to provide companies with a basis for their reports.
Sustainable development relies on governments and the public's participation, EPA promote the regional sustainable development based on authority unit by holding an experience exchanging forum on August, 12th. Meanwhile, we scheduled a field trip at Tainan as a platform for local governments to sharing their challenges and solutions. Through the experience-sharing process to realize the balance among environment, society and governance, moving forward finally to national sustainable development pathway. Otherwise, 2 achievement checking meetings and 3 on-line oral presentation examines were held in enhancing the local governments attention on sustainable development value regionally. Finally, we have made 21 sets of GEWC graphics and 2 Sustainable Development Visioning videos to deepen the public's understanding of sustainable development issues.
