This project carries out from January 20 to December 15, 2022, and the outcome of it is demonstrated as follows:
(1)Guidance meeting:
During the annual project was conducted, have been held information sessions about indoor air quality (IAQ). The topics of advocacy are " Promote indoor air quality maintenance & management advocacy and control operation in 2022" and "Innovative Thinking of Indoor Decoration for Epidemic Prevention ". The meeting focused on the policy priorities that the EPA is expected to promote this year. The information is provided to the attended sites to understand the contents of the policy, as well as to prepare early, and to cooperate with EPB in the implementation of relevant publicity, investigation and counselling work. It is expected to that these sites have correct maintenance concept and apply it to daily epidemic prevention and indoor air quality maintenance and management.
(2)Investigation of indoor air quality of 100 sites (200 times):
The number of sites inspected using direct-read instruments is 200. The results indicated that 12 of these sites are abnormal. There are 5 sites for kindergartens, 2 sites for hospital, 2 sites for government office, 1 site for shopping mall, 1 site for child care center, and 1 site for college. Most of the air pollutants of anomalies detected at all sites were CO2. The abnormal CO2 concentrations are related to insufficient ventilation. The abnormal PM2.5 and PM10 in some places were due to the adverse effects of outdoor air quality.
(3)Aiding 100 sites to set up maintenance and management regulations:
This project has aided 100 locations to set up and fill up maintenance and management plans with examinations. At the same time, this project also offers strategies and solutions while the indoor air quality is necessary to be improved. At first, we illustrate related laws and duties that they should follow and fulfill, and we remind them of the daily maintenance regulations.
(4)Holding inter-bureau coordination meetings:
The inter-bureau coordination meeting was held to keep track of the issues brought up at 2021 yearly meeting. The meeting mainly explained the policy promotion status of the EPA’s new announced listed sites and the IAQ self-management label policy and promotion. Relevant bureaus are requested to assist in updating the expected new list of announcement sites and in advocating for relevant policy information. In addition, the plan updates the contact windows for bureaus. We also investigate the items of activities that bureaus can co-operate with the implementation of this project to promote indoor air quality in public places.
(5)Examining the standards of indoor air quality at 12 locations:
This project commissioned the organizations certificated by EPA to examine the IAQ at 8 announced sites and 4 sites with non-announcement place. The results show that the 8 announced sites and 6 non-announcement sites all meet the IAQ standard. This project assisted three qualified child care Centers to obtain the excellent label of IAQ.
(6) Continuously inspecting CO2 at 2 locations:
n May and August, this project conducted continuous monitoring of CO2 in the Library (Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Chiayi City Government) and the kindergarten (Seed kindergarten) in order to help the two types of places to understand the indoor CO2 concentration and the effectiveness of ventilation improvement. In addition, recommendations for indoor ventilation management were also provided. After installing Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) system in the reading area of the library, the IAQ has been improved. Although the CO2 concentrations in the kindergarten were high slightly during certain periods, the 8-hours average concentration of CO2 still meted the IAQ standard.
(7)On-site aiding 6 locations to maintain and manage indoor air quality:
From August, two experts and scholars were invited to conduct on-site counselling for 6 locations. The 6 locations selected are due to abnormal indoor air quality, poor maintenance management, declared places and voluntary participation of companies. Common IAQ problems observed from on-site counseling are insufficient ventilation, air conditioning filter is not regularly cleaned up, and dust accumulation on the air outlet of air conditioning system.
(8)Investigation of indoor air quality at 30 non-publication sites:
The IAQ in 65 sites have been inspected, including homes, shops and offices. We have provided related suggestions for them to maintain indoor air quality. The results of the survey showed that the publics are satisfied and agree with the IAQ inspection activity.
(9)Guiding public and private places to obtain the indoor air quality self-management label
We have guided 23 places to obtain the indoor air quality self-management label. There are 12 places are the excellent grade and 3 are the good grade for the announced places. There are 8 unannounced sites also have obtained the IAQ self-management label of good grade.
