Since ground measurement stations are limited in number and spatial distribution, two-dimensional data must be provided by satellite observations, and different satellites have different spatiotemporal resolutions according to their mission orientations. Compared with ground measurement stations, the advantages of satellite observation make satellite telemetry the most potential and practical environmental monitor. This project also attempts to combine high spatial resolution fusion images from polar orbiting satellites and high temporal resolution from geostationary satellites, and apply them to the near-real-time monitoring of air pollutants in Taiwan through spatiotemporal analysis. It is expected to be able to grasp the short life cycle and Small-scale pollution incidents.
Large-scale fires, agricultural waste, and open burning of garbage in Taiwan have a huge impact on surrounding air quality. How to use scientific methods to immediately grasp the development of combustion sources, subsequent smoke spread and downwind impact on townships is an urgent need for responsible agencies. If we can grasp the above variables by taking advantage of the satellite's large-scale and near-real-time observation, in addition to achieving an early warning, the relevant government departments can respond early
In order to analyze the impact of regional air pollutants in East Asia on Taiwan's air quality, there is an urgent need to integrate and analyze air pollutant data retrieved by satellites, the spatial distribution and temporal evolution characteristics of regional air pollutants, and clarify and grasp these extraterritorial contributions from long-range transport. If it is able to further examine and grasp these variables through scientific methods (observation, model simulations, statistics, etc.), we can not only carefully evaluate the effectiveness of air pollution control policies, but also further grasp and predict the changes of the short-term and mid-term regional atmospheric pollutants and the impact on air quality in Taiwan, and achieve an early warning. The relevant government departments can respond early and the public can also be alert and protect themselves.
