To extend product lifespan and reduce electronic waste, countries around the world are promoting the Right to Repair initiative to encourage repair activities. Additionally, disclosing information about the repairability of products at the point of sale can influence consumers' decisions towards sustainable consumption, thereby affecting product-related and service-related design through the power of sustainable consumption.
Regarding the trial and evaluation of the introduction of the Electronic Product Repairability Index labeling in Taiwan, the draft of the "Electronic Product Repairability Index Promotion Guidelines" has been formulated. Subsequently, a trial implementation plan for the Electronic Product Repairability Index has been carried out, with the participation of four mainstream mobile phone and laptop manufacturers. The scoring guide manual has been optimized to reduce scoring ambiguity, and a process for confirming the scores of the repairability index has been established.
This project studies the international trends in promoting the right to repair, including countries such as the European Union, France, the United States, Germany, and Austria. It covers measures related to product design, sales, and usage phases. The latest evaluation methods for durability indexes in France are collected, and finally, a short, medium, and long-term plan for promoting the repairability index or durability index system in our country is proposed.
