The Ministry of Environment organized the "Environmental Knowledge Competition" to promote government policies and to implement environmental education initiatives. Through lively and captivating competition designs, the event aimed to attract active participation from the public and convey accurate environmental knowledge. This year's competition covered a wide range of topics, including zero-waste green living, resource cycling, climate change and disaster prevention and rescue, pollution prevention and control, environmental management, nature conservation, cultural preservation, community participation, and some particular video content shown on the "Environmental Education Lifelong Learning Website". By incorporating education into an enjoyable setting, the competition enabled contestants nationwide to quickly access environmental knowledge. This, in turn, helped instill a sense of responsibility and commitment to the environment, motivating individuals to take action and extend the principles of environmental protection to every corner of society.
In each special municipality and county (city), the top 5 participants from each category (elementary school, junior high school, senior high/vocational school, and career group) in the preliminary rounds qualified for the finals. The finals consisted of two stages: elimination and golden goal rounds. In elimination, participants drew their answers on the card, with the top 50% from each group fast-tracking to the golden goal round which involved raising placards to answer questions. In case the top 5 cannot be determined, a "PK match" would be used to decide. In total, 20 winners were selected from the four groups. This project was responsible for designing competition topics and leveraging expert scholars’ assistance in reviewing them. It also planned the main event venue, four competition venues, dining areas, and other matters related to the final competition day. With an attendance of 1,064 people, the goal was for contestants and participants from each special municipality and county (city) to take on the role of environmental ambassadors. This involved promoting environmental knowledge to every corner of Taiwan, urging the public to transform knowledge into the power of action, to share correct environmental protection knowledge with classmates, friends, and family, and to turn knowledge into action by "living green" in a multitude of lifestyles such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, recreation, and shopping. By continuing to be a force for good, the public has spread these practices to everyone around, contributing to a more sustainable and beautiful home.
