In response to the global trend of carbon neutrality, Taiwan has implemented four major transformation strategies, including "energy transformation," "industrial transformation," "lifestyle transformation," and "social transformation," to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. In addition, 12 key strategies have been extended to gradually achieve a sustainable society with zero emissions by 2050. "Low-carbon green living" is the 10th key strategy, which mainly combines the main responsibilities of other key strategies such as energy transformation, business model, and industrial transformation, and encourages the public to choose low-carbon lifestyles from daily aspects such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, entertainment, and so on. The government also faces challenges such as difficulty in changing public behavior, cross-ministerial integration, enterprise business model transformation, insufficient infrastructure and lack of critical technological support. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate policies and technological implementation strategies to encourage enterprises to develop more low-carbon (zero-carbon) products and improve the public's motivation and ability to reduce carbon emissions, thus changing public behavior and achieving the goal of lifestyle transformation.
This project aims to assist the Environmental Protection Administration in planning the development of carbon neutrality and green living transformation technology and strategies in Taiwan. The main contents of the project include (1) planning the carbon neutrality and green living technology strategy, specific measures, and pathways in Taiwan; (2) formulating a mechanism for evaluating key carbon reduction indicators for lifestyle transformation; (3) proposing a green living transformation business model; and (4) constructing an evaluation method for the benefits of promoting carbon neutrality and green living.
