The Enterprise Environmental Protection Award has been rewarded for 32 years to encourage corporate social responsibility through advancing environmental protection. A total of 711 enterprises have received the award since its inception in 1992. This year, after undergoing review stages, on-site surveys and a final selection, a total of 64 award-winning companies were selected, including 4 Giant Thumb Awards, 3 Gold Awards, 24 Silver Awards, 34 Bronze Awards and 8 Finalists.
In line with Taiwan's 2050 goal of transformation to net-zero , most of the 128 companies registered this year have incorporated energy conservation and carbon reduction into their actions, and integrated the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) as aspects of corporate management, with 98 enterprises publishing Corporate Sustainability Reports. Enterprises that participated in this year's award competition have excellent environmental protection records, with total conserved electricity of 445.4 million kWh in 2022 (enough to provide one month of power to 1.314 million households), conserved water of 71.83 million cubic meters, rain water collection of over 931,271 metric tons (equivalent to one month of water supply to 2.10 million families), installation of solar power facilities to generate 105.3 million kWh of electricity (enough to provide one month of power to 310,720 households), purchasing 133,102 renewable energy certificates, and a total of 238,447 metric tons of carbon reduction (equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of 615 Daan Forest Parks). These enterprises also responded to the government's environmental policies by taking part in: green procurement reaching a total of 9.38 billion TWD; adopting a total of 76 public restrooms and 40 kilometers of shoreline; and leading 213 beach cleanups with a total of 7,506 participants. 109 of the enterprises have signed up in response to the call for a green working environment.
In order for the data on these award-winning enterprises to be gathered, shared, passed on and promoted, the MOENV has published a summary of the 5th NEEPA Winners for Excellent Performance in Environmental Protection, which outlines the experiences of these organizations. In addition, the MOENV will hold demonstration seminars and site visits at some of the award-winners’ facilities, allowing the winners to share their experiences in carrying out environmental work.
