In order to enhance the public’s correct understanding of the use of herbicides and promote human and mechanical environmental weed removal operations, this plan starts from March 1, 2023 and ends on September 30, 2023. During this period, we will carry out weed management operations in vacant land through inspections, and promote environmentally friendly prevention and control methods using the concept of mechanical weeding to reduce the potential harm to the environment and ecology caused by the use of herbicides. During the project period, 24 inspections (measured in miles) were carried out, and a total of 38 cases of weeds and yellow soil were found. In Fengshan District, Qianzhen District, Sanmin District, Daliao District, Xiaogang District, Renwu District, Nanzi District and Niaosong District, relevant information has been reported to the bureau for subsequent notification.
During the project, 20 pesticide sellers were interviewed and guided, and all of them have implemented and publicized Kaohsiung City’s Herbicide Management Regulations. Remind buyers of the scope of use of herbicides. For volunteers from the Environmental Protection Bureau of Kaohsiung City and members of the Community Development Association, we promote the concept of weed management, publicize autonomy regulations, and assist in weed removal operations in open spaces using mechanical weeding. Promote environmentally friendly prevention and control methods to reduce the potential harm to the environment and ecology caused by the use of herbicides.
During the project period, a total of 3 publicity meetings and on-site demonstrations of mechanical weeding operations were held at the Haiziliao Fishing Port Beach in Ziguan District, Luodi Community Development Association in Miduo District, and Shengming Community Development Association in Fengshan District. A total of 323 people participated, and the demonstration weeding area was 671.37 square meters. During the project period, we assisted in the investigation of cases related to herbicide spraying, and conducted on-site weed sampling and inspection (a total of 3 cases).
In addition, the "Kaohsiung City Herbicide Management Autonomy Ordinance" was promoted through the video wall at the entrance of Ruifeng Night Market in Zuoying District, the intersection of Dome Hanshen Department Store in Zuoying District, the intersection of Minzu Road/Jiuruer Road in Sanmin District, and the intersection of Fengshan Youth Road in Fengshan District.
