The project runs from January 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024. During this period, the project team supports the Changhua County Climate Change Response Task Force with administrative operations. The team organized two Climate Change Response Committee meetings, one briefing on the establishment of Changhua County’s Climate Adaptation Implementation Plan (involving 24 participants from 13 county government departments), two expert consultation session (attended by five experts), and one public forum with 41 participants.
The team assisted in advancing greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation efforts by regularly tracking and monitoring the outcomes of GHG reduction initiatives, compiling emission reduction data from various departments, and completing the 2023 GHG Reduction Plan Outcome Report and the follow-up report for 2024, along with recommendations for improvement and future strategies.
For climate change adaptation, the team collected three case studies on domestic or international mitigation or adaptation strategies, gathered environmental background data for Changhua County, assessed the county's climate risks, and identified key adaptation areas. The team defined responsibilities for adaptation among county government departments, reviewed and consolidated adaptation measures, and drafted the Changhua County Climate Change Adaptation Implementation Plan (preliminary version), encompassing a total of 95 implementation measures.
Additionally, the team facilitated three community climate disaster risk dialogue sessions with 55 participants. They also assisted the Environmental Protection Bureau in monitoring and tracking various sub-projects and guided departments in using AI tools to promote integrated climate change projects tailored to the region's unique characteristics.
