Work Content of the Project of Environmental Education in Nantou County for 2024
Summary of achievements for each work item:
1.Environmental Education Media Promotion
Three themed videos were produced this year, focusing on: (1) storytelling with environmental education picture books, (2) promotion of environmental education volunteers, and (3) outcomes of the 2024 Environmental Education Volunteer Convention. These videos aim to enhance the visibility of environmental education and promote a society committed to sustainable resource reuse.
Additionally, multimedia and social media platforms were used for promotion, including online media, social media, and LED scrolling displays for policy marketing.
2.Environmental Education Promotion Activities in Nantou County
Practical promotional items were selected to enhance environmental awareness, with five types chosen. The slogan "A Little More Green in Life, A More Sustainable Environment" was adopted.
Two off-county environmental education workshops were conducted, visiting Miaoli County's Zhunan Incineration Plant and Taoyuan City's Fire Department Training Center and Disaster Prevention Education Hall.
3.Lifelong Learning Orientation Sessions for Environmental Education
Two orientation sessions for environmental education staff were held on July 4 and November 4, with 109 and 75 participants, respectively. (See Chapter 5 for details.)
4.Guidance and Audits for Agencies and Schools
In 2024, 300 units were required to report environmental education outcomes. Thirty units were selected for online audits, including 15 suggested by the Ministry of the Environment for improvement and 15 not audited in the past three years. On-site audits were completed on July 4, and reports were submitted by July 31.
5.Recruitment and Selection of Volunteers in Nantou County
Ten new environmental education volunteers were recruited, with nine passing interviews and seven completing special training. The total number of volunteers reached 118, including 111 existing members.
6.Training and Utilization of Volunteers in Nantou County
A capacity-building training session was held on June 27, and a special training session for seven new volunteers on August 31. Volunteers conducted 21 activities, covering topics such as environmental education picture books, global warming, and sustainable living, reaching 1,414 participants.
7.Promotion and Application of Senior Volunteers
A senior volunteer activity was held on June 22, encouraging retirees to engage in environmental education promotion, with 36 participants.
8.Hosting the 2024 Nantou County Knowledge Competition
Preliminary rounds were held on September 7, with 277 participants across different age groups. Representatives advanced to the national competition, with Nantou County’s team earning second place in the social group category.
9.Hosting the 2024 Nantou County Environmental Protection Volunteer Convention
Held on August 10, with 286 participants competing in various events. Winning teams represented the county in the national competition in Hualien and received awards.
10.Promotion and Application of Environmental Education Picture Books
Picture book competitions were held, with top entries promoted at public events and printed for further use.
11.Hosting the 2024 Nantou County Summer Environmental Education Camp
Four two-day, one-night camps were held for elementary school students, with a participation rate of 98.75%.
12.Innovative and Special Environmental Education Promotion Activities
Activities included the "Protect Nantou: Love Campus Environmental Education Train," with 22 sessions reaching 2,498 participants, and thematic events for Earth Day.
13.Implementation of Environmental Education Workshops
Three workshops were held, focusing on environmental law compliance, with attendance rates exceeding targets.
14.Guidance for Potential Community-Building Projects
Support was provided for three communities, with assistance in drafting reports and project completion.
